Responsibility at Develey

"We see it as our responsibility to take action against climate change. That is why we have been working since 2008 to significantly reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions at our German sites."
Michael und Stefan Durach, CEOs of Develey Senf & Feinkost GmbH

As a family-owned company, we think in generations. To ensure that Develey remains strong for generations to come, we have firmly embedded long-term thinking in our corporate strategy. This includes reducing our emissions by generating our own electricity from renewable sources.

Our strategy is guided by the principle “Energy in our own hands”. In Germany, we source exclusively renewable electricity.

Our awards & certificates

The path toward more sustainable business practices requires perseverance and constant inspiration, not only from within. That’s why we’re especially proud when our efforts are recognized externally. Awards encourage us and reflect the success of our employees’ dedication.

Our Journey since 2008

2008-2012

UNTERHACHING UNDERGOING CONVERSION

Our first step was to convert the refrigeration system at our Unterhaching site to CO₂ as a natural refrigerant, an important step towards future-proofing our cooling supply. Compared with many synthetic refrigerants, CO₂ has a very low global warming potential. A true pioneering achievement at the time, it has since become standard practice in refrigeration systems.

2012-2017

Investments at Other Locations
Between 2012 and 2017, Develey took further important steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from production at several of its sites. In Dingolfing, a wood-chip heating plant has been reducing CO₂ emissions by 2,500 tonnes per year since 2012, followed by the installation of an efficient combined heat and power plant in 2016. Photovoltaic systems in Pfarrkirchen, Erfurt and Bautzen further expanded the use of renewable energy, with solar power covering around a quarter of the electricity demand at the Bautzen site.

2016

Our Sauces Are Free From Palm Oil

After many years of development, we have achieved our goal: we have replaced palm oil in all our branded products.

2019

PET Bottles Made with 30% rPET

All Develey PET bottles are now made with 30% recycled PET.

2023

Launch of the Develey Energy Alliance

With the development of a virtual power plant, Develey is expanding the supply of renewable electricity across its German sites. Solar and wind power systems feed into a central system that intelligently distributes the electricity generated by Develey to the individual sites according to their needs.
